Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hosted an Iftar for orphans, physically-challenged children, war-wounded freedom fighters (FFs) and alems (Islamic scholars) at her official Ganobhaban residence on the second day of the holy Ramadan on Friday.
The Prime Minister went round different tables set for the guests, exchanged pleasantries with them and enquired about their well-being.
Before the iftar, a special munajat was offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation. Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Moulana M Salauddin Ahmed conducted the munajat.
Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of the August 15 massacre, four national leaders, martyrs of the War of Liberation and heroes of democratic movements.
Maulana Habibullah Juktibadi, Maulana Abdur Razzak, Maulana Mohammad Akhtar Hossain Bokhari, Maulana Abdul Halim Siraji, Maulana Golam Mawla, Maulana Ismail Hossain, Hafej Abdul Bari, Maulana Habibullah, Maulana Abul Hasan Sheikh Shariatpuri, Mufti Solaiman Al Azadi attended the Iftar, among others.
LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, Environment and Forests Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Social Welfare Minister Enamul Haque Mostafa Shahid, State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Capt (retd) AB Tajul Islam, State Minister for Religious Affairs Advocate Shahjahan Mia, Media Adviser to the Prime Minister and Awami League President Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, AL Religious Affairs Secretary Sheikh Md Abdullah, PM's Principal Secretary Shaikh Md Wahid-Uz-Zaman, Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Special Assistant (media) Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, among others, were also present.
