Health and Family Welfare Minister Professor Dr Ruhal Haque Friday said a 600-bed bone marrow transplant unit would be set up soon at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
The essential healthcare facility is going to be set up considering the interest of poor patients, he said.
He was speaking at a seminar on 'Collaborative Efforts with Massachusetts General Hospital Harvard Medical University Promote Healthcare', arranged by the ministry, at a city hotel.
Health Secretary MM Niaz Uddin presided over the seminar while Prime Minister's Health Affairs Adviser Prof Dr Modasser Ali and BRAC Founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed also spoke as special guests.
Among others, director general of Directorate of Health Prof Dr Khandoker Shefayet Ullah and Bangladeshi-born bone marrow export of the university Dr Bimolanshu Dee spoke.
