Dhaka: The Communist Party of Bangladesh and the Workers Party of Bangladesh have expressed their satisfactions over the war crimes verdict against Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.
In reaction to the death sentence handed down to Mujahid by ICT-2, the CPB chief Mujahidul Islam Selim on Wednesday said the judgment delivered by the tribunal is fair and a true reflection of people’s expectation.
He also demanded the execution of the verdict without any delay.
He commented that Ghulam Azam who was the leader of the party at that time should have also been awarded capital punishment like Mujahid. Mujahid was the commander of Al-Badr Bahani during the Liberation War.
Meanwhile, Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon said the verdict is the one that people anticipated and expected.
Mujahid was organizer of Al-Badr and linked with massacre of hundreds of people. He was engaged in plotting against the county during the Liberation War in favour of Pakistan but also after the liberation.
The International Crimes Tribunal on Wednesday awarded death sentence to Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid for crimes against humanity he had committed during the Liberation War in 1971.
