Dhaka: Ganojagaron Moncha spokesperson Dr Imran H Sarker expressed satisfaction over the International Crimes Tribunal-2 verdict that awarded capital punishment to Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid for his involvement in crimes against humanity.
Imran said, “We’ve got justice through the verdict and it was expected and we’re happy.”
He also added: “The nation is also satisfied with the verdict of Mujahid, member of killer gang Al-Badr, for killing intellectuals along with martyr journalist Shirajuddin Hossain and lyricist-composer Altaf Mahmud during the fag end of the Liberation War in 1971.”
Rejecting the verdict of Ghulam Azam, he said, “We sought state appeal for death penalty for Ghulam Azam, otherwise the Ganojagaron Moncha will file an appeal with the Supreme Court seeking capital punishment of Ghulam Azam.”
The Ganojagaron Moncha will continue its movement for seeking capital punishment for all the convicted war criminals in the days ahead.
