Country's eminent personalities on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the verdict of death sentence to Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.
The International Crimes Tribunal-2 led by Justice Obaidul Hassan handed down the capital punishment to Mujahid on charges of allegations of crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
President of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu, historian Muntasir Mamun, actor Rokeya Prachi and Shimul Yousuf gave the reactions to the verdict.
In a reaction, Nasiruddin said the verdict fulfilled people's long-cherished expectation.
"We are satisfied and grateful to the court for the death sentence to Mujahid who was involved in killing of think tanks," he said.
Muntasir Mamun said, "We give thanks to the court for giving proper judgment."
"Souls of martyrs would get peace for the verdict," he hoped.
