An activist of Juba League, an associate body of ruling Awami League, was knifed to death Wednesday at Mirpur in the city.

The deceased was Kazi Zahirul Islam Babu, 34.

Police and local sources said, Babu was stabbed indiscriminately in his abdomen and chest allegedly by three local criminals--Emdadul Haque, Monir and Shahidullah-near Boro Masjid area, Taltala around 8.30 am.

He was rushed to Galaxy Hospital in a critical Condition. From there he was shifted to Samorita Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Police said he might have been killed following previous enmity. But his elder brother Tajul Islam, organizing secretary of 13 no ward Awami League, said criminals killed his brother for refusing to give toll.

The body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for postmortem.

A murder case was lodged in this connection.
