Summer is here and it's taking no prisoners. With the sun blazing down and sweat tickling down the hair, most of us just tie our hair in a messy bun.

But we are sure you will agree when we say that, summer is not a good season for skin and hair. Getting tanned, oily greasy skin, dry and frizzy hair and dehydration all contribute to our summer woes. So what can be done to avoid all these problems? Times of India gives some helpful tips…

1. Shampoo less frequently and use shampoos which are gentle and will not give the lather. Shampoos with detergents rob the hair of the moisture content.
2. Finish with a cold water rinse to seal the moisture in.
3. Conditioning is compulsory.
4. Avoid chemical treatments, bleach, straightening in summers. This will make the hair more dry.
5. Try avoiding hair dryer. Air dry as much as possible
6. Deep conditioning treatments are very important during summers.
7. If you out in the sun, apply a SPF product on the hair and scalp or wear a hat.
8. Drink plenty of water.
9. Avoid leaving your hair open. Try braids or different hair styles.
