Dhaka: The Election Commission on Tuesday announced the schedule for presidential election which will be held on April 29, said EC sources.
As per the schedule, aspiring candidates will have to submit their nomination papers by April 21 and the selection and scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on April 22 while the nomination papers could be withdrawn by April 24, added the source.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed announced the schedule of the Presidential Polls at the conference room of the Election Commission Secretariat at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the city.
For the presidential election, the acting president has already summoned the 17th session of the ninth parliament (Jatiya Sangsad) at 5.30 pm on April 21 (Sunday).
Acting President Abdul Hamid Advocate summoned the session as per Article 72 (1) of the Constitution on Monday.
Earlier the Jatiya Sangsad sources said the presidential election will be held during the session.
The 16th session concluded on March 6.
