Rajshahi: Rajpara Police with the help of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Mahfuzur Rahman, the prime accused over the killing of Rajshahi ward Jubo League leader Sarwar Hossain Dablu, from Airport area in Dhaka on Friday night. Nine of his accomplices have also been arrested in the overnight drives from different spots at Airport Railway Station area in Dhaka, confirmed Rab-1 sources. Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Sub-Inspector Tauhidur Rahman of Rajpara Police Station said the accused were arrested by using mobile tracking and with the help of Rab 1. They remained absconding since the incident of May 22, he added. They were taken to Rajshahi on Saturday morning. Dablu, the acting Jubo League president of ward No. 7 in the city, was gunned down in a factional clash at Chandipur in Rajshahi city on May 22. Sources said there had been a conflict between the supporters of Dablu and those of another faction led by Mahfuz, known as Maya Group, to establish control over construction business in the area. Rubel, younger brother of murdered Dablu filed a murder case accusing 25 of whom names of 10 persons were mentioned with Rajpara Police Station on May 23 in this connection. Mahfuzur Rahman, Ward no-7 councillor candidate mentioned as the prime accused of the case, remained absconding following the murder. (FK/08/06/13)
