Dhaka: Bangla Academy has changed the last two day’s time schedule of Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela 2013. The book fair will be opened at 11:00am instead of 3:00pm on February 27 and 28. Earlier, Publishers hold a press conference demanding two-day extension of the book fair in front of Bardhaman House at Bangla Academy premise on Sunday. Srabon Prokashoni’s publisher delivered speech at the press conference. He said, “The ongoing unstable political situation badly affected the book fair. Four hartal days were also called in this month. In addition, the fear of pre-hartal violence kills more four days and one day for rainy weather. All together nine days of book fair remained dull.” Mentioning the amount of loss he said, “It needs 23-25 thousand taka to print 300 hundred copies of a four-forma book as the price of printing increases. But the number of book selling is not good. Many publishers took loans before the fair and many of them will be in trouble for sure. That is why the time of book fair should be extended to save the publishers.” At last, Bangle Academy did not fulfill the publisher’s demand but extended the book fair for eight hours.
