Bangladesh education role model for dev nations: Maldives minister

Dhaka: Bangladesh's education has undergone rapid development within a short span of time and it has become a role model for developing nations, said visiting Maldives Health Minister Dr Ahmed Jamsheed Mohamed. He made this remark as he called on Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at his Secretariat office in the capital. The Maldives minister sought Bangladesh's cooperation for setting up an university in Maldives, saying developing countries should learn successful experiences from Bangladesh. During the meeting, they discussed on different aspects of bilateral issues relating to both the countries. Among others, Maldives Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka Ahmed Adil and WHO country representative to Maldives Akjemal Magtymova were present. In the last four years, Nurul Islam Nahid said, the present government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, brought epoch-making changes in the country's education sector. Besides, he said, the government also make a history by reaching 27 crore books to the students at primary and secondary levels in the last four consecutive years. As part of making the country digital one, the education minister said, multi-media class rooms started functioning in 23,300 schools across the country, ensured 100 percent enrolment at primary level while new curriculum added to the education system after 17 years.
