Admission in medical colleges thru exam

Dhaka: The government has decided to hold admission test for entry into medical colleges for this session of first year MMBS course. Secretary of Health and Family Welfare MM Niaz Uddin told Prime News of Wednesday that admission test will be held for medical entrants. He said, “Policymakers at a meeting at the Bangladesh Secretariat have decided to hold the admission test for admission seekers of first year MBBS Course. An order will be issued in this regard soon to make people aware about it.” The health secretary said, “Most of the people who attended the meeting expressed their opinion in favour of the medical admission test. So the admission test decision was finally taken for first year MBBS students.” In 2012, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry said that from now onwards first year MBBS students will be selected on the basis of their results (GPA score) they secured in SSC and HSC and other equivalent exams. But the announcement sparked off rowdy demonstrations by guardians and admission seekers and even the High Court had to intervene on the issue forcing the government from reversing their decision. But the question was raised by guardians and HSC examinees again which procedure would be followed this session and the answer came out from this meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The would-be admission seekers are now taking part in their HSC examinations and after the HSC results the examinees would have to face their toughest test of life in admission battle to get into universities, medical or dental colleges and BUET too for higher education to build a better life.
