Dhaka: Valiant freedom fighter and security analyst Major General (retd) Amin Ahmed Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, died of a cardiac arrest on Friday night at his Gulshan residence. He was 68. Family sources said Amin Ahmed fell sick at around 10:00 pm Friday night at his residence in the city and immediately he was rushed to United Hospital, Gulshan. But, the attending doctors at the hospital declared him dead. The former Major General of Bangladesh Army worked as Bangladesh ambassador in different countries and involved in various social and sports organizations. His Namaz-e-Janaza would be held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Asr prayers Saturday and later he would be buried at Banani graveyard. PM condoles death Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Saturday expressed profound shock at the death of valiant freedom fighter and security and political analyst Major General (retd) Amin Ahmed Chowdhury, Bir Bikram. In a message of condolence, the Prime Minister recalled his contribution to the nation as a valiant freedom fighter, chairman of the Muktijoddah Kalyan Trust and ambassador of Bangladesh. She said the nation has lost a patriotic figure and dedicated personality at his death. The Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
