Rangpur: Legendary Freedom Fighter (FF) Taramon Bibi, Bir Pratik, has termed the verdict pronounced by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 against Abul Kalam Azad alias "Bachchu Razakar," as historic in our national history. "With this verdict, the nation has started becoming free from four decades-old stigma and I want to see its execution at the soonest possible time," an ailing Taramon Bibi said on Monday in an exclusive interview with BSS on the maiden verdict against "Bachchu Razakar", one of the 1971 perpetrators of crimes against humanity. "The verdict ushers in a new era as I still remember atrocities committed by war criminals, Razakars, Al-Badars and Al-Shams and anti-liberation forces against the humanity in 1971," she said demanding immediate completion of trial of all war criminals. She thanked the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for its pre-election patriotic commitment to complete trial of war criminals, for the crimes they committed against the humanity during the War of Liberation in 1971. "The nation is united now on the trial and execution issue of the war criminals for the genocide, murder, rape, arson, loot, abduction and persecution they committed against humanity to safeguard the independence and sovereignty," she said. Taramon Bibi also called upon the pro-liberation forces and people from all walks in the society to remain alert with the spirit of the War of Liberation. "All FFs, like commoners, want immediate completion of trial of all war criminals and to see execution of the verdict pronounced today," she said urging the government to take all measures to bring back the absconding "Bachchu Razakar" for execution.
