Dhaka: Publicity secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and Environment and Forest Minister Dr Hassan Mahmud on Friday said that Tarique Rahman went abroad giving an 'undertaking' not to take part in politics.
"We have the evidence that he (Tarique Rahman) has already violated the undertaking," he said while addressing a discussion on the historic Six-point Day as chief guest at the Dhaka Reporters Unity. 'Thikana Ekattor Bangladesh organized the programme.
Chaired by the President of Thikana Ekattor Principal Fazlul Haque, the discussion was addressed, among others, by former Joint Secretary of Awami League Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Awami League leader Dr Awlad Hossain, Mobarak Ali Sikder, General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sanskrit Jote Arun Sarkar Rana and Director of Abahani Limited Sheikh Mohammad Jahangir Alam.
Dr Hassan Mahmud alleged that a section of BNP leaders have been launching propaganda that Tarique Rahman will be elected member of parliament (MP) if the general election is held tomorrow that is totally false and imaginary.
He said that during a recent visit to Bangladesh by Indian Congress Chief Sonai Gandhi acknowledged that Bangladesh is more developed than India.
He claimed the financial budget for 2013-14 as an historic one and pro-people. The government under the able leadership of Sheikh Hasina has already implemented the last four budgets successfully, he added.
