Industries Minister Dilip Barua on Tuesday said an attempt is going on to ruin the state-run sugar mills to initiate monopoly business.
He apprehended that if the attempt of ruining the state-run sugar mills comes out successful then the price of sugar would increase.
The minister said this while the newly elected committee of Bangladesh Sugar Mills Labour-Employees Federation met him at his ministry office, a press release said.
Awami League Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Jatiya Shramik League leader Sirajul Islam, Bangladesh Sugar Mills Lobour-Employees new president Khandakar Shahidul Islam and general secretary M Rezul Karim addressed on the occasion.
Barua said the grand alliance government is a industry and labour-friendly one.
