Dhaka: Awami League Presidium Member and former home minister Mohammad Nasim on Wednesday said the government will extend cooperation to the long march of Hefazate Islam planned for April 6, if it is held peacefully.

He said, "If they create anarchy it will be clearly understood that they don't believe in Islam and they have other intention."

Nasim said this following a meeting of the 14-party alliance at the political office of Awami League President at Dhanmondi in the city.

He informed reporters that Awami League-led 14-party alliance will organise public rallies across the country on April 7 in protest against the destructive activities of BNP-Jamaat combine and to mobilise public support in favour of its campaign for expediting the war crimes trial.

Nasim said along with the Jamaat Begum Khaleda Zia has waged a war against the country and its pro-independence people to take revenge of their defeat in 1971. "The Jamaat along with BNP has been resorting to heinous barbarism in the name of so-called movement. They have been staging drama making the people's life miserable with their hartal weapon," the Awami League leader said.

The former Home Minister said the trial of the war criminals would certainly be completed whatever be their subversive activities and anarchy. "None can save the war criminals," the Awami League leader said categorically.

Mohammad Nasim chaired the meeting of the 14-party alliance, also attended, among others, by Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta MP, party presidium members Nuh-ul- Alam Lenin and Satish Chandra Roy, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) general secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia, JSD executive president Mainuddin Khan Badal MP, Workers Party general secretary Anisur Rahman Mallick, Ganatantri Party general secretary Nurur Rahman Selim, Gano Azadi League president Alhaj Abdus Samad, Awami League organising secretaries Ahmed Hossain, AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP and deputy office secretary Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das.
