Dhaka: Shab-e-Barat, the holy night of fortune and forgiveness, will be observed on June 24, said a handout on Sunday night.
The National Moon Sighting Committee in a meeting this evening took the decision saying, "The moon of the month of Shaban was not sighted anywhere in the country.
The meeting held at Islamic Foundation conference room in the city's Baitul Mokarram National Mosque with religious affairs ministry secretary Kazi Habibul Awal in the chair.
"As the moon of Shaban of 1434 Hijri was not sighted in the skies of Bangladesh on Sunday, the month of Rajab will end on Monday on completion of 30 days and Holy Shaban month will begin on Tuesday," the release added.
