Dhaka: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left Dhaka for London on Monday  morning to attend a seminar titled ‘ Bangladesher Gonotantro, Manobadhikar O Rajnoytik Poristhiti’ (Democracy, human rights and political situation in Bangladesh) organized by House of Lords of British Parliament.

A delegation consisting seven-members of BNP will take part in the seminar and visit the United Kingdom and may also hold a meeting with party’s senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman in London.

The delegation members are opposition BNP Chairperson’s advisor and former commerce minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice-chairman and former foreign secretary Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, Chairperson’s advisor and Dhaka district BNP president MA Mannan, human rights affairs secretary Barrister Nasir Uddin Ashim, Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Barrister Noushad Jamir.

The main two political parties of Bangladesh are invited to the seminar of the House of Lords.

Party sources said, Mirza Fakhrul will meet with BNP’s senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman who has been undergoing treatment in London to finalise some important issues.  Tarique will give directions on upcoming national elections to Mirza Fakhrul and the party leaders.

In addition, he will also pass on some important news of the party chairperson to Tarique Rahman.

The sources said depending on the political situation, BNP will hold a session of the party’s national council session after Eid. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir may be entrusted with the responsibility to hold the council session.

Tarique Rahman may also give important directions regarding the post of secretary general along with some other top posts of the party for the council session.
