Chittagong: At least 12 leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were injured in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Chittagong University (CU) area on Monday.

The injured were identified as Nurul Huda, Hasan, Junayed Hossain, Newton Dutta, Sharifullah Sabuj, Ali Ahmad Rocky, Salahuddin Shahdat Hossain, Mohammad Sohel, Mizan Uddin, Ruhul Amin and Arafatul Alam.

The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital and different clinics. Campus sources said the clash erupted when members of BCL activists attacked on JCD activists who brought out a procession at the university railway station area around 2 pm protesting the arrest warrant issued against Senior Vice-president of BNP Tarique Rahman.

In protest of the attack the JCD activists vandalized several vehicles and put barricade on university adjacent road for nearly one hour.

Later, they withdrew the barricade after the university authority assured them of taking necessary steps against the attackers.
