Dhaka: Anti corruption commission (ACC) has approved to submit charge sheet against six teachers including former principal of Gaibandha Government College due to admitting excessive 102 students of total seat approved by national University through release slip.

The approval was made in a regular meeting at ACC office at the capital’s Shegunbagicha on Wednesday.

The approval of submitting charge sheet was made against former principal of Gaibandha government college Md. Rezaul Karim, former assistant professor of economics department MM Ashadul Islam, assistant professor of English department Md. Abdur Rashid, former assistant professor of Bangla department Md. Shahidul Islam, lecturer of Islamic History and Culture Md. Mostafizur Rahman and former lecturer of Mathematics department Brindabon Sarker.

In addition, former assistant professor Md. Rahmat Ali Khan was exempted from the case liability.

Assistant director of ACC Abu Hena Ashikur Rahman is investigating the case. The approval was made according to section 109 of penal code of Section 5(2) of number 2 corruption prevention act 1947.

The case (case no 31) was filed with Gaibandha police station in September 29 in 2012.

The ACC source said the merit list of eligible students is made according to the submitted release slips against vacant seats in different departments. But in that case the committee did not abide by the rules and take admission all the students who submitted release slips.  The principal sent all the admitted students to the Dean of Nation University for collecting registration. That time the event of admitting excessive students came in front and the principal was show caused.

National University said they did not deliver registration to the excessive students as the principal’s explanation was not satisfactory.

It is clearly proved that the members of the admission committee admitted excessive 102 students of the total seat in History, Accounting, Bangla, Islamic History and Culture, Economics, Philosophy, Political science and Management abusing power.
