Dhaka: The new mayor-elects of four city corporations -- Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet -- will take oath of office on July 21.
The Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Shawkat Ali made the disclosure on Tuesday.
The department concerned of the ministry is preparing the invitation letters for the elected mayors and councilors of Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet City Corporations for taking oath of office in Dhaka.
The invitation letters for the oath taking ceremony will be sent to respective city corporations within a couple of days, the ministry said.
On June 15, elections were held in four city corporations and opposition BNP-backed mayoral aspirants won all the four city corporation elections ousting the incumbent mayors backed by the ruling Awami League.
The four mayor-elects are Ariful Haque Chowdhury (Sylhet), M Mosaddek Hossain (Rajshahi), M Moniruzzaman Moni (Khulna) and M Ahsan Habib Kamal (Barisal).
