Dhaka: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said, “A mere dialogue between the top two leaders of the main parties is not enough to resolve the political crisis, rather they must have the mentality to reach a negotiated settlement during the talks. Because mere talks without changing mindset will not help.”

“For the greater interest of the nation and continuation of democracy, all should have to work together by forgetting the political differences and bitter past,” said Quader while addressing a discussion at Dhaka University Senate Bhaban on Friday afternoon on “People’s Rights and Movement: Recent Experience.” Bangladesh Social Science Association organized the discussion.  

He criticized the Bangladeshi politicians and said, “We don’t do what we say and similarly we don’t say what actually we do. This double standard and duality in our characteristics are taking the nation backward. But the political culture has been going through a qualitative change which was evident in the Shahbagh Janojagaran movement.”  

Irresponsible remarks made in public domain is actually responsible for political anarchy and violence in the country at this moment. As a result people are losing their trust and faith in politicians, claimed Obaidul Quader.
