Khulna: Two people were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Jhilerdanga area under Dumuria upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ghanta Mondol, 50 and Ranju, 60.

Witnesses said, the accident occurred in the early morning when a pickup van rammed into a human hauler on the Khulna-Satkhira Highway at Jhilerdanga area on Saturday.

Dumuria police station OC Moshiur Rahman said, “A Satkhira-bound pick-up van and human hauler fell into a roadside ditch after a head-on collision in the area at about 6:30am, leaving two dead on the spot and injuring five others.”

On information police rushed in and recovered the bodies.

The injured were sent to Khulna Medical College and Hospital while the bodies were sent to morgue for autopsy.
