Dhaka: The government has reduced 17 days leave from the scheduled Ramadan vacation to regain damage done by the hartal and other violent political strike in recent days.
The education ministry has re-fixed the vacation schedule after revising the 2013 academic calendar for all schools and colleges on Tuesday.
The vacation for Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr has been cut and refixed 11 days holiday instead of 28 days.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said, “Sufficient classes were not held due to various political programmes. So, the vacation has been reduced to recoup the losses for maintaining the academic calendar.”
