Faridpur: A court here on Sunday awarded life term imprisonment to a man for killing his wife on May 04, 2008.

The court also fined him Taka 5 thousand, in default, to suffer another more year in imprisonment.

The convict was identified as Goutam Roy, 25, son of Ashok Roy of Megchami village under Madhukhali upazila of the district.

Gautam Roy killed his wife Mita Rani Roy, 20, on May 04, 2008 over family feud by strangulation and kept the body in a nearby sugarcane field.

Local police recovered the body from the field the next day.

Mita's father Ananda Kumar Roy filed a murder case with Madhukali Police station against his son- in-law Gautam. Police submitted charge sheet after investigation.

District and Sessions Judge Md. Anwarul Haque handed down the verdict.
