Dhaka: The main opposition BNP Standing Committee member MK Anwar on Thursday termed the proposed budget as “the budget of self-satisfaction for the ruling party having no direction for the nation in the election budget.”
He alleged that there is no clear direction for the nation or pro-people focus in the proposed budget of huge deficit apparently to appease voters without capability to implement it.
The senior leader of the party came up with the instant reaction at a press briefing at Media Centre of the parliament after Finance Minister AMA Muhith placed the proposed budget in the ninth parliament on Thursday afternoon.
Senior leaders of the party, including Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed, were also present at press briefing.
Barrister Moudud told journalists that “The government placed the political budget ahead of election to please all though there is no clear direction from where the huge deficit would be financed”. “The government does not have any ability to implement such a big budget as it has no financial back-up to implement it with limited resources,” he observed.
