Sirajganj: The long cherished demand of the people of northern Sirajganj district is being fulfilled with the inauguration Sirajganj Express, a new inter-city train service which runs between the country's capital Dhaka to Sirajganj.

Railway Minister M Mujibul Haq formally today opened Sirajganj Express at a function held at Sirajganj Bazar stations, saying new train service have been opened as the present government is giving priority to reach the rail network to the doorstep of the common people.

Terming the railway as national resource, the minister urged people to come forward to protect it as "you (people) have the responsibility to safeguard such state property from any kinds of sabotage."

Among others, Fisheries and livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas, Tanvir Shakil Joy MP, Bangladesh Railway Director General M Abu Taher addressed the function with Acting Secretary of the Railway Ministry M Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.
