Dhaka: Poet Rabindra Gope was one of the leading poets of 1970’s. The world around and human beings are the main elements of his poems. The eternal mother with natural instinct, soil and love for nature and the opposite sex naturally come when the theme of most of his poems centred on human beings.  The history of Bangla language, democracy and the Liberation War also come quite often in his lyrical write-ups. His poetry also contains contemporary, natural flow of life and living elements.

Poet Robindra Gope was born on November 5, 1951 in Brahmanbaria district.

He has around 40 different titles in his credit, published by various publishing houses. He was awarded with ‘Kotha Shilpi Sahityo Puroshkar’, ‘Bikash Sahiyo Puroshkar , ‘Kobi Sufi Motaher Hossain Sahityo Puroshkar’ and many more awards.  In addition, American Biographical Institute honored him with ‘Man of the Year 1998’ award.

The poet’s six new books have been published on the occasion of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2013. Gotidhara Prokashoni has already brought out ‘Kobita Shomogro-2’. ‘Mayer Vashar Kabbo’ from Mizan publishers, ‘Muktijudhher Kobita’ from Aleya Prokashoni, ‘Premer Kobita’ from Aligor are also being published and might hit the fair any day. Another book ‘Selected 50 Poems by Rabindra Gope’ will be brought out soon for the book fair.

He also told about the poems of some new poets, “I buy and read young poet’s books to feel the motion of their writings.  I try to change my writing motion too inspired by them to stay relevant with the present time. The youth can break and create new things. Rabindranath also used to remold his poems.”

“Many people think that new writer’s poems are a bit complicated,” he said, adding, “Our poems were also thought complicated when we used to write in our early days. But usually poems of any poet can never be complicated as they are the craftsmen of words to give shape and voice to unexpressed thinking of common men as something profound. Poets are also modern all the time in their thinking process and write-ups as in fact they are the most modern soul of the time eternity.”
