Dhaka: Bangla Academy Shahitto Puroshkar 2012 was announced on Monday. Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy, announced the writers name at the main stage of  Amar Ekushey Grontho Mela on the 18th day of the fair.

The awarded writers are: Sanaul Haq Khan and Abid Anwar (Poem), Sanat Kumar Saha (Article), Khandakar Sirajul Haque (Research), Fokhrul Alam (Translation), Mahbub Alam (Liberation war based literature), Tapan Chakrabarti (Science, Technology and Envireonment) and Mahbub Talukder (Literature for children).

The formal awards giving ceremony will be held on February 24. Each writer will be awarded with a crest, certificate and one lac taka as honorary money.

Poet Sanaul Haq Khan said, “To me this award from Bangla Academy is like getting my breakfast at afternoon snack time. I have nothing to do but write if I didn’t get the award. However it is a reward! And I am happy.”

“My mother has recently passed away. I am dedicating this award to her”, he added.
