Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed on Friday urged the government to come up with a compromise formula over the caretaker government issue.

“Still there is time for a compromise, otherwise you will have to make compromise over existence,” he said this while taking part in a discussion meeting titled, ‘The reality and maltreatment of Zia family’ at National Press Club on Friday afternoon.

He said the ruling party must pay the price for the damage they have done to the people of the country.

Moudud set two conditions for compromise -- one release all opposition leaders and activists and withdraw all cases against them and the other one is release of Mahmudur Rahman along with resumption of republication of daily Amar Desh and reopening of Diganta and Islamic TV. 

“The next general election will not be held under any party government. If the Awami League goes for it, it will have to face dire consequences for that,” he said.

The ruling party is leading the country towards a disaster through its misrule in the name of the opposing the opposition over restoration of the caretaker government system. The Awami League has enjoyed a lot of opportunities from last election.

But it is their tradition to impose on people one-party rule whenever they assume power. The people of the country have tought them a good lesson through the five city corporation elections, but still they have failed to learn the lessons despite drubbing in five cities.

Some evil forces are active in the government who are responsible for Ganojagaran Moncha at Shahbagh, crackdown and mass killing of Hefazat men. To cover up the mass killing and detrimental situation the government has interfered on the publication of Amar Desh, Diganta TV and Islamic TV.

Adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Shamsuzzaman Dudu, BNP executive committee member Helen Jerin Khan and Jatiyatabadi Swadhinata Forum President Abu Naser M Rahmatullah were, among others, present at the meeting.
