EC starts sending invitation letter to parties

Dhaka: The Election Commission on Tuesday finalized the date for dialogue on next general election with some 38 registered political parties.
The EC will talk with political parties on November 26, 28, 29 and December 2 about the modalities of election and take their opinions on how the election could be held in a free, fair and acceptable manner.
EC will talk with nine political parties on November 26. They are Islamic Front Bangladesh, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Islami Oikya Jote, Oikyaboddho Nagorik Andolan, Krishak-Shramik-Janata League, Khelafat Majlis, Democratic Party, Gono Front and Gono Forum.
On November 28, the talks will be held with Jomiyote Ulamaye Islam Bangladesh, Zaker Party, National Democratic Party, Jatiya Party (JP), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and National People’s Party.
On November 29, EC will hold dialogue with Bangladesh Awami League, Bangladesh National Party, Progatisheel Ganatantrik Dal, Bangladesh Islamic Front, Bangladesh Kolyan Party, Bangladesh Khelafot Andolan, Bangladesh Khelafor Mojlis and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BGP).
Besides, on December 2, EC will talk with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh Tarikot Federation, Bangladesh National Awami Party, Bangladesh National Awami Party (Bangladesh NAP), Bangladesh Muslim League, Bangladesh Workers’ Party, Bangladesh Communist Party, Bangladesh Biplobi Workers Party, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal, Bangladesh Samyabadi Dal (ML), Bikolpodhara Bangladesh and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
Election Commission has already started sending invitation letter to the parties.
Earlier EC talked with representatives of civil society.
EC secretariat source said two representatives from each political party would be called for dialogue. “The EC will finalize work plan for next election after hearing their proposals,” he said.
