Dhaka: The country has become champion in all pervasive corruption during the Awami League-led grand alliance government’s rule as the government high-ups are busy amassing speed money, claimed BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia on Friday.
All pervasive corruption, politicization of all sectors and nepotism have been given institutional shape and made the country a safe haven for corrupt persons as the AL-led government high-ups are busy stashing up illegal wealth by plundering public property, the BNP leader said this while addressing a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club.
Motlab Jatiyatabadi Forum in Dhaka organized the human chain programme demanding withdrawal of false cases against BNP leader Anwaruzzaman.
He also claimed that corruption was decreased during the tenure of BNP-led four-party alliance government.
“A number of scandals, including Hall-Mark loan scam, midnight cash scandal, quick rental and share market scams have shaken the government and edoded people’s faith in it as government high-ups are involved directly in those financial scandals. Revelation of such massive corruption incidents are not just unusual in the country, but also in the world,” said Rafiqul Islam Mia.
Among others, adviser of Motlab Jatiyatabadi Forum in Dhaka Shahidul Alam Chandan, Hafizur Rahman Kabir, general secretary MM Mofizul Islam, joint-secretary Tofael Ahmed, Golam Rabbani Mamun and Mia Monjur Amin Swapan addressed the human chain presided over by president of the organization Alamgir Sarkar.
