Dhaka: Home Minister Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir on Saturday hoped the trial of the August 21,2004 grenade attack case will conclude soon.

"Top level leaders of the then ruling BNP were involved in the heinous attack as per the information so far collected and none of them will be spared," he said while addressing a discussion meeting as the chief guest.

Ekushey August Bangladesh, a platform for the family inmates of the August grenade attack victims, organized the discussion at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the capital city.

Chaired by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, the discussion was addressed, among others, by vice-president of the organization M Nazimuddin Ahmed, Dhaka City AL vice-president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and its organizing secretary Shahe Alam Murad.

The minister said the then state minister for home affairs and Dhaka Metropolitan police commissioner did not visit the spot after the grenade attacks at Bangabandhu Avenue.

He said after the incidence, hiding evidences and making Joj Mia tale had proved that who were involved with the attack.

"The government is working to unveil the musk of the perpetrators soon," Alamgir said.

The DU VC demanded exemplary punishment of the perpetrators of the grenade attacks to avert repetition of such attack.

Professor Arefin said, " It is our duty to rehabilitate and provide treatment to the grenade attack affected and wounded people."

He said if necessary the grenade-affected people should be provided treatment by experts from abroad.
