Narsingdi: A local office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was set on fire by some unidentified miscreants at Brahmandi in the district town on Thursday night.
Locals said some unidentified miscreants set the Jamaat office located at Brahmandi afire by pouring petrol at about 10:30 pm on Thursday night and fled the scene.
On information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after two hours of hectic efforts.
District Jamaat Ameer AFM Abdus Sattar said that activists of the ruling Awami League might have torched their office as part of their announced plan to resist Jamaat.
Sheikh Abdul Malek, secretary of district Jamaat, demanded immediate arrest of the arsonists who had set of fire their party office in a planned manner.
When contacted for reaction about the party office torching incident of one of BNP allies, district BNP president Khairul Kabir Khokon condemned the arson incident and demanded punishment of the arsonists involved in the incident.
