Dhaka: Chasing a target of surpassing Bangladesh’s 387 run first innings score, the touring West Indies batsmen were settled in the crease after losing two early wickets on day-2 of the 2nd Test at Khulna’s Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium on Thursday.

After the end of over 70, the visiting team scored 198 runs losing just the two openers.

Powell was first to fall, charging a pull of a Rubel Hossain short delivery and caught by Shakib Al Hasan. Chris Gale fell in an attempted sweep, caught behind to Sohag Gazi at 25.

Marlon Samuels was unbeaten at 72 and Darren Bravo on 82 as West Indies continue batting firmly to take a lead surpassing Bangladesh score.

Earlier in the day, history maker Abul Hasan scored 113 before giving a catch to Sammy. He became the first ever batsman in 110 years to score a century from number 10 on debut.

Tamim Iqbal scored 32 runs, Shahriar Nafees 26, Naeem Islam 16, Shakib Al Hasan 17, Nasir Hossain 52, Mushfiqur Rahim 38 and Mahmudullah 76 runs before returning to the pavilion.

Pacer Fidel Edwards bagged six wickets, Captain Darren Sammy three and Permaul one.

The state-owned Bangladesh Television and satellite TV channel Channel 9 telecast the match live.

On November 17, the visitors beat the host by 77 runs in their first Test match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

The West Indies cricket team arrived on a month-long tour in Dhaka on November 5 to play a full-fledged series against host Bangladesh.

During the month-long tour, the ICC World T20 winners will play a lone T20, five one-dayers and two Test matches with Bangladesh.

The first and second one-dayers will take place in Khulna on November 30 and December 2 respectively.

The remaining three one-dayers will be held in Dhaka on December 5, 7 and 8 respectively while the lone Twenty20 game will be held on December 10 in the capital.
