Dhaka: The visiting international graft expert panel of the World Bank held talks with US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena on Monday evening.

A diplomatic source said they discussed progress of Anti-Corruption Commission’s probe into the alleged graft over appointment of consultants for the Padma Bridge project and the global lender’s position on the issue with the US ambassador during an hour-long meeting.

Earlier in the morning, Barrister Rokan Uddin Mahmud also held a meeting with the WB panel at about 10:00am at Hotel Westin in the capital city. 

During an hour-long meeting, he discussed different legal aspects and complications regarding the Padma Bridge graft allegations with the international graft expers, reliable sources said.

On Saturday, the WB external panel, led by former chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno Ocampo, arrived in Dhaka to look into the progress made after their first visit in October 14 following formation of the panel by the World Bank on October 4.

They will have several meetings with the ACC high-ups over the progress of the investigation of the graft watchdog over graft allegations in the Padma Bridge project.
