Dhaka: Unidentified miscreants on Saturday issued death threats to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Dhaka Bikash Kumar Saha and Additional CMM M Ali Hossain through SMS calling them enemies of Islam.

"You are the enemies of Islam. You have sent the leaders and activists of Islam to jails instead of granting them bail," a police official quoted the identical SMSs sent to the two judges.

It added: "We will cut the tendons of you and your family members in the same way as we have beaten up policemen. We will kill you. Be ready. Allahu Akbar (God is all mighty)".

Sub Inspector Rakibul Huq of Kotwali police station told BSS that police is planning to launch an investigations into the incident as nazir of the CMM court M Mahbub Alam lodged a general diary with the police.

The threat came as several Jamaat - e- Islami activists were sent to jail for street vandalism while trial of several stalwarts of the party is nearing completion for their alleged "crimes against humanity" during the 1971 Liberation War.
